THE WORLD OF WEIGHT AKAN” is a true thesis by the author throughout the three volumes that make up the work. It is based not only on a clear, rich and varied literature, but also one of the most fabulous collections weight known to date.

Volume I: “WEIGHT NON FIGURATIVE” – published in 1984 – is the first book to offer a panoramic view of all the non-figurative themes gathered and classified according to their nature, form and signs that characterize them. This monumental work is one of the first to show the relationship between the signs carried on the Akan Weight and Negro-African writings.

Volume II: “THE FIGURATIVE WEIGHT” – published in 1985 will be devoted to Figurative weight. This is the world of the Akan, their cultural universe with its people, genies and deities, its floristic elements, flora of the tropics, its material objects (weapons, tools, furniture, utensils, religious objects, musical instruments, body ornaments etc …) designed and created by the former to improve their condition of life, not to mention the cosmic forces (sun, moon and stars) that punctuate the sequences of time, harmonize seasonal changes of nature and regulate activities human. This second volume gives useful indications to date the weight to determine their regional origin and identify false.

Volume III: “WEIGHTS IN SOCIETY” – published in 1987 will recount the role and function of the weight in the Akan Company.
