The island of Celebes, today called Sulawesi, Indonesia has one of the most remarkable civilizations of Indonesia. In this country of mountains, Toradja have kept their original identity. They are famous for the holidays they give in honor of their dead, and this book tells. In these ostentatious rituals are found all the elements of their society. We must listen to what they tell us about their lives and their deaths in that thought and different world. The first part is devoted to moments of celebration. In the second part: the rites succeed as the days that follow. Finally, afterword, it comes to the agony of a culture of death.
