Description
This major opus, the first major book on the Yoruba sculpture of the “modern” era (roughly from the early 19th to early 20th century) contains a remarkable collection of texts and photographs. The excellent essays by William Fagg (including the full text of an important article of 1951, “The art of the Yoruba“) and the very interesting object descriptions are accompanied by John Pembeton high quality photographs of pieces of Yoruba reference exposed to the Pace Gallery in New York.
