Description

This book is a first synthesis essay on the art of clay ancient peoples of Mali, Nigeria (Nok, Ife, Benin), Ghana (Akan), Chad and Cameroon (Sao). The results of old and recent excavations (RMA Bedaux, Utrecht, and R. and S. McIntosh) the datings thermoluminescences (D. Stoneham, Oxford), historical data, oral traditions and the study of styles and the typology of terracotta were included in this work which will be the basis for a better understanding of African art. Most published items were selected from the hidden treasures of various private collections.
