Description

Dr. Hans Himmelheber famous ethnologist Heidelberg, met during his six expeditions in Central Africa and West, the artists themselves to observe them in their work and artistic creation. Thus, this book does not show the subjective idea of European art, but brings Africa itself authentic material of negro artists and the importance of visual arts in black life. Since then, the negro sculpture known by Picasso, Vlaminck, Derain and Matisse became “Negro Art” in general and has proven, over time an increasingly growing interest.
