This book is the result of years of research in the footsteps of Peter Loebarth. During the 60 years Loebarth Peter traveled to Africa as a humanitarian to development assistance and will subsequently deeply connected to the continent. He discovered his passion for collecting of African art that will accompany it for 30 years. During the 70s and 80s his collection of Lobi evolved while he was stationed in Togo as a project manager for the adult education, for cooperatives and unions throughout West Africa. However, this collection of Peter Lobi Loebarth for which there is little awareness, little known to the general public, no longer exists as such for some time. Floros Katsouros able to locate many pieces from private collections. However, others are still waiting for their “discovery.” The many illustrations in this book are mostly documentary photos taken by P. Loebarth himself, for personal use only. They thus the quality of amateur photos, performed either color often reddish or black and white and some Polaroid photos. Given the poor quality of these photographs, developed 30 years in screen, without risking significantly alter these pictures were reproduced in their original condition it with only minimal changes of light and contrasts. Peter Loebarth himself in the past has contributed to several books and exhibitions and worked with many galleries (Pace Gallery, for ex.). He helped competently among others in the ’70s to form the collection of Georg Baselitz,. His influence in Germany was and remains high in the circles of African art.
