The sculptural art of the Kalabari people of the Niger Delta is rarely appears in the literature, and rarely if at all it was examined as closely as in this long study to be printed. Examining both woodcarving Kalabari and religious objects in other materials, the text also addresses the sculpture from other Ijo-Saxon peoples. The majority of the photographs are unpublished and were taken in situ . 72 plates of sculpture, annexes on materials and tools, neighboring styles, and Kalabari sculpture and modern social change.
