The Art of Black Africa Works from the Collection of the Museum of Ethnology of the University of Zurich. This book represents Part I – Art and Society is organized ethnically and topics. The reproduced object from the collection are mainly Han Coray dispersed in 1940 and complete from the collections of the Museum of Ethnology particular grouping Bambara antelope masks, ceramics grave Akan, plates and heads from Benin, masks of Cross River region and ancestral statues Luba. Finally a general essay on social arts and sciences deal with matters concerning community arts, the art of the elite and the social role of art in traditional societies of Black Africa.
