This book presents, backup, interprets, develops and introduces more than a hundred major and significant objects of cultural and artistic heritage of Bandjoun, a major art centers and art tradition of the Cameroonian Grassland whose international fame in the fields of aesthetics and art of Africa is well established. What impresses visitors to the kingdom, that are in addition to dances, ceremonies and landscapes, architectural features rich decor, superb royal thrones, beautiful masks, beadwork, fabrics with enigmatic patterns and various objects cultural expressions that are sometimes life cycle. Through these works, talented artists have one hand, celebrated the splendor of the court of kings Bandjoun, grandeur and power of these monarchs, their employees and secret societies and, secondly, the materialized universal themes such as death, life, love, victory, defeat, power, prestige and occult force. Typical examples of these products are now on display at the museum, allowing the latter to fulfill its basic functions. These creations of unquestionable authenticity, often presents great workmanship. They are both cultural witnesses of great aesthetic value and / or historical and social, and messages of the men of the past and present. They illustrate the traditions and values sometimes forgotten. Several exceptional pieces, rare, unique, one finds there, including several world leadersd’oeuve of African art. These specimens have escaped once again in January 2005, with the burning of a part of the Royal Borough of Bandjoun, as happened in 1959, when a similar disaster (but six times more devastating and more murderer), in the same places during the War of Independence in Cameroon. Fortunately most of Bandjoun heritage has been preserved, especially since the museum set up by the WCC and its collection survived absolutely intact, for the pleasure of visitors and for the preservation of the culture of Bandjoun. Here, artistic creation is based on a vibrant and dynamic tradition.
