This catalog illustrates the exhibition “Royal Arts of Cameroon” pays homage to the artists of Central Africa and presents a selection of objects of exceptional quality ranging from beaded thrones, beds and horns carved up the terracotta chiefdoms of the highlands of West Cameroon. Pipes and bronze necklaces Bamoum alongside statuettes, not carved doors and Cross River Dance crests. The statuary in general and the famous masks Bangwa and Douala occupy the center stage of this collection. Some pieces borrowed Mabéa peripheral societies, Chamba and Gbaya allow visitors to compare the works of various schools of production in the region. However modest it claims to be, this exhibition of fifty of rare objects provides relevant information to research on the history of art in Africa.
